How to bid
Bidding on an auction at tuitbids.com.au is a simple process, but before you bid, you need to know How to Win.
What is the Highest Unique Bid?
For a member to place the highest unique bid, their bid must meet the following criteria.
- The bid must be the only one of its value for that increment range.
- The bid must be the highest of all the bids meeting the 1st criteria above.
The following figure shows how a Highest Unique bid would be determined.
Figure 1
- The multiple members placing Tuit bid amounts of 1, 4 & 5 Tuits make these bids Not Unique as there are multiple members for each bid amount.
- The member placing a bid of 2 Tuits is Unique as there is no one else bidding this value, but they are not winning as its not the highest value like this. This member still stands a chance if someone turns the Highest Unique bidder (3) into a Not Unique by placing another bid at their level.
- The member bidding 3 Tuits is currently the Highest Unique Bidder as he has the only one to place a bid for this value and it is the highest bid in this example.

Finding an Auction:
There are a few way that you can find an auction to bid on.
- If you have never won an auction before, when you login it will ask you if you have tried the "Gumby Auctions", these are ONLY open to members who have not won an auction before. Gumby Auctions are also avaliable from the menu in the left column.
- Coming Soon auctions are displayed under the coming soon tab in the left column menu.
- From the map of Australia on the home page, select the state you want the voucher from.
- Or in the right menu, again select the state required (here it tells how many auctions are running in each state)
Bidding on an Auction:
Once you have selected the state that you wish to win a voucher for, it will display all auctions running in that state. Find a voucher that interests you…
Figure 2
From the above example you can see that the following information is available :
This auction costs 5 Tuits to place a bid, with the maximum bid that can be placed of 5 Tuits running in a 0.01 tuit increment. As 1 Tuit = $1 the maximum bid value on this auction is $5, a saving of more than 99% of the retail price – as the Highest Unique bid value will be less than the maximum bid value).
Also from this information we can see that this is a Unlimited Bid Auction with members being able to place as many bids as they wish. If the word "Unlimited" is actually a value then this would be a limited bid auction, which means each member can only place a certain number of bids on the auction, Bids left is a counter saying how many bids you have remaining.
When bidding on this Auction you also receive 5 reward points for each bid you place.
Click on “Bid now” to bid on the auction.
Remember anyone can bid the maximum bid amount; the idea is to have the HIGHEST Unique bid when the auction closes to win…
** Note you will need to add credit to your account (using PayPal) before you will be able to place a bid.
Keeping track of my bids:
If you click on the “My Current Bids” tab in the right menu it will display all your current bids that you have placed. It will also show you if those bids are Not Unique, Unique or the Highest Unique bids. If you have the Highest Unique bid, then you are currently winning the auction. (Suggestion; if there are only a few bids left, you could put on some other bids - making sure not to outbid yourself - to win in case someone outbids you in the last few bids). If you have a Unique bid, it means someone has a bid higher than yours. You could try and knock them out so your Unique Bid becomes the Highest Unique bid.
Am I a Winner!
If you have won an auction, we will send you an email to notify you that you have won; otherwise you can look in the My Winnings section on the right menu. In the My Winnings section it will tell you what auctions you have won. You will also be able to see if an Auction is “outstanding” this means that you do not have enough funds in your account for it to automatically pay the auction and notify us to ship, please Purchase Credit to cover the outstanding amount. If it says “Dispatched” it means that the voucher has been dispatched and if you click on this it will show you the delivery details for your winning auction.
This should explain the basics, if you have any other questions, please check out the FAQ’s page or Contact Us.
